Detailed Solution

The Ganga river has the largest basin in India.
The Ganges and its tributaries drain it. It originates in Gaumukh near Gangotri in the Himalayan Mountains. Enriched by the glaciers, it is the longest river in India. Bhagirathi and Alaknanda rivers join to form the Ganges, which is why it is sometimes referred to as Bhagirathi. The river carries rich deposits of sediments eroding the mountain ranges and deposits these as it empties into the Bay of Bengal. This deposition formed the Ganges river delta, known as the Sundarbans.
