Detailed Solution

Gandhi said, “Do or die” in your effort to fight the British, but non-violently.  To abolish British control in India, Mahatma Gandhi launched the Quit India Movement on August 8, 1942, during World War II. He encouraged the populace to fight the British without resorting to violence, saying, "Do or die." Peasants and young people who had given up their studies to join the revolution were drawn to it. As a result, people have established their governments in numerous places. The British's initial response was harsh repression. In a protest, Congress demanded that the British leave India. But the British quickly imprisoned most of the Congress leadership to end the campaign. Until the conflict was over, the British would not grant independence.
