Seth Hukumchand was a pioneer in the "Swadeshi Industry," establishing cotton mills (Hukam Chand Mill and Raj Kumar Mill in Indore) as well as a massive jute mill and iron mill in Calcutta, making him the first Indian entrepreneur to create a Jute Mill.
