The triangular slave trade was carried out between Europe, Africa and America during the 18th and 19th century. The French merchant bought slaves from local chieftains in Africa and these slaves were shipped for 3 months across the Atlantic to the Caribbean. And they were sold to plantation owners thereafter. The slaves were exploited by the plantation owners and were forced to do the work. Port cities like Bordeaux and Nantes were the major centers for the slave trade.
