Detailed Solution

Cross-cutting social differences are easier to accommodate.
When social differences between two communities cut each other is called cross-cutting social differences. Suppose two communities have similar interests in a topic. They will indeed have different views on specific cases. Cross-cutting social differences are more accessible to accommodate than overlapping social differences. That often leads to violence. An example of cross-crossing differences is religion and class in the Netherlands. It doesn't matter whether they are Catholics or Protestants; they can be poor or rich. While in Northern Ireland, religions and class cross-cut each other, Catholics tend to be poor, and Protestants tend to be rich.
