Detailed Solution

Arid soils are sandy in texture and saline in nature. Generally found in dry areas, arid soil is known as desert soil. The soil has a sandy texture and has high saline content. In desert areas, salt can be obtained from the soil due to the evaporation of water. The colour varies from red to brown. Arid soil lacks humus and moisture and is found in regions of high temperature. The faster evaporation rate in these regions and the prevailing dry climate make the soil unsuitable for agriculture. In desert regions of Rajasthan, suitable irrigation methods are used to make the soil ideal for cultivation. The increasing calcium content downwards restricts the infiltration of water.
