Detailed Solution

Martin Luther King Jr. started the Civil Rights Movement in the USA.
A series of activities and actions known as the Civil Rights Movement in the USA (1954–1968) sought to eradicate the practice of legal racial discrimination against African–Americans. Thus, the civil rights movement was primarily a struggle for African Americans in the 1950s and 1960s for justice and equality. It was overseen by Martin Luther King Jr. The movement opposed racially insensitive laws and customs through nonviolent techniques and strategies.
The African -Americans made other attempts as well. A more militant anti-racist movement that called for using violence, if necessary to eradicate racism in the US was the Black Power movement.
