Detailed Solution

Siraj-ud-daulah succeeded as the Nawab of Bengal after Alivardi Khan. After the death of Alivardi Khan, Siraj-ud-daulah became the Nawab of Bengal in 1756. During the reign of Siraj-ud-daulah, the Battle of Plassey was fought. The real reason for the outbreak of the Battle of Plassey was the willingness of the English East India Company to keep a puppet ruler to give them trade concessions and other varied privileges. The army led by Rober Clive won the battle, and Siraj-ud-daulah was assassinated. After his assassination, one of his commanders, Mir Jafar, was made the Nawab of Bengal, who acted as the puppet ruler for the British.
