The Iqta system was the system that the Sultans started to replace the cash payment system.
According to this new system, the officers were given revenue in the form of land instead of salary. The land assignees were to keep a part of the collected revenue as their salary, while the rest was handed over to the Sultan of Delhi. In addition, these officers were also expected to keep an account of the revenue collection and maintain peace in the region assigned to them.
