Detailed Solution

Muslim League viewed the Muslims as a separate nation from the Hindus.
In 1940, the Muslim League demanded that Muslims have "autonomous states." In the late 1930s, the League began to view Muslims as a separate nation from Hindus. The League was persuaded by the 1937 provincial elections that Muslims were a minority and would always have to take a backseat in any democracy. The Muslim League intended to conduct a significant protest to secure its demand for Pakistan after the Cabinet Mission's failure. Hence, "Direct Action Day" was proclaimed on August 16, 1946. Certain parts of northern India saw an uptick in violence by March 1947. India and many of its cities underwent a significant change with the formation of Pakistan.
