Detailed Solution

Hieun Tsang was a Chinese pilgrim who came to India during the 7th century AD and spent many years at Nalanda University.
Between AD 627 and AD 643, Hiuen Tsang visited India during the reign of Harshavardhana. Harshavardhana grew to respect him for his intense devotion to Buddhism. Hiuen Tsang characterised Harsha as a model Buddhist follower, but at that time, Hinduism was more generally practised in India than Buddhism. All religious groups were treated with total tolerance, and individuals freely changed their religious affiliations, according to Hieun's accounts. During his stay in the region, he also studied Buddhism for some time at Nalanda University.
