Guru Granth Sahib was a collection of teachings of Baba Guru Nanak. Guru Angad compiled the compositions of Guru Nanak. This script came to be known as Gurumukhi. Guru Arjun later compiled this composition in 1604. Guru Arjun collected the work of the other 5 Gurus. In Guru Granth Sahib, the writings of other Sufi and Bhakti saints like Kabir, Namdev, and Sheikh Farid were also added. In 1706, this compilation was authenticated by Guru Gobind Singh. It has now become a holy scripture of Sikhs.
