Detailed Solution

Devangs was a community famous for weaving in South India. Weavers lived in areas specialising in weaving, and information was passed down from generation to generation. Among the most notable weavers were the tanti weavers of Bengal, the julahas of north India, and the devangs of south India. A caste of Hindus from South India known as Devanga, also known as Lingayat Devanga, Devanga Shetty, and Devanga Chettiar, traditionally engaged in agriculture, weaving, and the manufacture of textiles. The Indian states of Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Odisha are where you can find them most frequently. The caste claims that the mythical Hindu sage Devala is their progenitor. They left their original homes in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka and relocated to Tamil Nadu during the reign of the Vijayanagara Empire.
