Detailed Solution

Sati was a custom that prevailed among Rajput females. According to this custom, if the husband died, his wife had to sit on his funeral pyre alive.
The custom of a widow sacrificing herself by sitting on her husband's funeral pyre, known as Sati or Suttee, is now largely historical. Sati is very briefly mentioned in Greek texts from around 300 BCE. Still, it presumably evolved into a true fire sacrifice in the medieval era among the northwest Rajput clans, where it remained restricted before becoming more common in the late medieval age. It was particularly linked with prominent Hindu Rajput clans in western India during the early modern Mughal era, highlighting one of the differences between Hindu Rajputs and the Muslim Mughals who forbade the practice.
