Detailed Solution

The clergy was a group of persons with special functions in the church.
In the church, unique roles were granted to the clergy. The feudal system during the Middle Ages included the estates' society. The clergy and nobles comprised around 3% of the French population. They controlled roughly 60% of the land. They constituted the first two estates and were born with unique benefits, including the absence of state taxes. Moreover, feudal privileges also applied to the nobles. As part of this, they obtained the peasants' payment of feudal dues. Peasants were required to serve the lord by labouring in their fields and home, joining the military, or contributing to the construction of highways.
