Detailed Solution

Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan was a major step in providing elementary education to children in the age group of 6 to 4 years by 2010.
It aimed at providing elementary education to children aged six to fourteen years by the year 2010. It was not just an effort by the central government but a combined effort from different stakeholders, which involved the states, the local government, and the community. The mid-day meal scheme was launched to improve the number of children who attended the schools. It motivated students to attend classes as well as improved their nutritional status. Bridge courses and back-to-school camps were also part of this successful program.
