Detailed Solution

Marco Polo was a merchant from Venice and an adventurer who travelled from Europe to Asia from 1271 to 1295.
On his journeys to and from China, Marco Polo encountered a wide variety of new people, places, and customs. In his book, Polo mentions places like Xanadu, the Mongol emperor Kublai Khan's capital. He notes the religious practices, dietary customs, attire, and architectural features he observed while travelling through Asia. The people of this city and the rest of India have the amusing custom of constantly chewing on a particular leaf known as tembul, according to Marco Polo (paan). The Travels of Marco Polo, a book by Polo that details his journey to and experiences in Asia, is well-known. From 1271 to 1295, Polo and his family made extensive trips, first from Europe to Asia and then back to China.
