Detailed Solution

Ahmad Shah Abdali was an Afghan ruler who invaded North India five times. Ahmed Shah Abdali, one of Nadir Shah's most capable generals, had established his power over Afghanistan after his master's death due to the weakening of the north-western defences. Between 1748 and 1767, Abdali invaded and pillaged northern India five times, all the way to Delhi and Mathura. Abdali's victory over the Maratha at the Third in 1761 seriously blew their plans to dominate the nation by seizing control of the Mughal Emperor. However, Abdali did not build a new Afghan state in India.
