        He described eclipses in terms of shadows cast by earth or those shadows that fall on earth.
        He said that lunar overshadowing occurs when the moon goes under the Earth's shadow and Sun-based obscuration occurs when the moon passes through the sun and earth and halfway or fully covers the sun.
