Robert Clive was asked to remove corruption in company administration.
After the Battle of Plassey victory, the Nawabs of Bengal were forced to give personal gifts to the Company. Robert Clive was asked to remove corruption from the administration after he was appointed to the post of Governor-General in 1764 of Bengal. In 1743 at 18, Robert Clive came from England to Madras. He earned money in India, and his fortune was almost £401,102 when he left India to return to England. His vast wealth was the reason that the British Parliament cross-examined him in 1772. British Parliament freed him from the charges, but he committed suicide in 1774.
