Detailed Solution

Tipu Sultan was called the tiger of Mysore because of his bravery.
The Tiger of Mysore, or Tipu Sultan, was a formidable monarch in Mysore. Tipu Sultan was a fierce warrior monarch who moved so swiftly that the opposition believed he was engaged in simultaneous battle on numerous fronts. Tipu Sultan employed tiger themes on arms and uniforms and adorned his palaces with tiger insignia as his state animal. He also got this name from a Tiger incident. When Tipu Sultan tried to kill the Tiger, his rifle stuck, and his dagger fell to the ground. Tipu earned the nickname "Tiger of Mysore" because he killed the tiger when it leapt on him and was going to maul him.
