Humayun was defeated twice by Sher Khan.
As per Babur’s wishes, Humayun divided his inheritance amongst his brothers after Babur died. Each brother got a province of their own, but the highly ambitious brother Mirza Kamran conspired against Humayun. Moreover, Mirza Kamran aided Humayun’s Afghan competitors. Thus, Sher Khan defeated Humayun at the Battle of Chausa (1539) and the Battle of Kanauj (1540). Sher Shah had imbibed the methods and workings of Mughal warfare by joining Babur’s army.
