Detailed Solution

Bengal was one of the most important centres of textile production in India in the early 19th  century. Among the four major centres of textile production in India in the early 19th century, Bengal is the most important. Much of this can also be due to its strategic location along numerous rivers in the delta, where the textiles produced could easily be transported to distant places. Bengal, at that time, included both the western and eastern Bengal before the partition in which Eastern Bengal went to Pakistan. Currently, it is Bangladesh and still an important cotton center.
