Detailed Solution

Pataliputra was the capital of the Mauryan Empire.
Pataliputra, the modern name Patna, was a large city with heavily armed boundaries. The city consisted of massive walls, 570 towers, and 64 gates. The Maurya empire ruled it. There were two to three-storeyed buildings constructed with mud and bricks. The kingdom was built with wood and decorated with stone carvings. The area around Pataliputra was under the direct control of the emperor. Revenue officials were appointed to collect taxes from farmers, herders, craftspersons, and traders. The city was entirely developed with princes, governors, rulers, and important personnel residing in it. Being the central location for governance and smooth economic functions, Pataliputra was the capital city of the Mauryan Empire.
