Sir John Simon was the chairman of the Simon Commission. The Simon Commission is infamously known in the history of colonial India as an unwelcome delegation that arrived in India in 1927. It was led and chaired by Sir John Simon. He was a British citizen. All of the seven members of the Commission were British; there were no Indian members. This was the main reason the Commission was greeted with the slogan “Go back, Simon” upon its arrival in India.
