Detailed Solution

Aryabhata was the first Indian satellite.
Artificial satellites are artificial bodies that revolve around the Earth. They are different from natural satellites. These artificial satellites are launched from the Earth and revolve around it in a much closer orbit than the moon. The Earth's gravitational pull maintains the motion of an artificial satellite around the Earth.
Aryabhata is India's first artificial satellite. It was named after Aryabhatta, a famous Indian mathematician. It is completely designed in India. It was launched from the Baikonur Space Centre in the Soviet Union on 19 April 1975 (Russia). The main motive of this satellite was to study the atmosphere of the Earth.
