Detailed Solution

Magadha was the most important mahajanapada.
Magadha had a monarchical rule. It emerged as the prominent Mahajanapada in about two hundred years. Several significant factors led to the prosperity and expansion of Magadha. Many rivers, such as the Ganga and Son, flowed through Magadha and provided transport, water supplies, and fertility to the land. The forested regions of Magadha had Elephants, which they captured and trained for the army. Wood from forests was essential for building houses, carts and chariots. Rulers used iron ore mines of the region to tap iron to make hefty tools and weapons. Magadha had dynamic rulers like- Bimbisara and Ajatasattu, who used all possible means to conquer other janapadas, and Mahapadma Nanda extended control up to the northwest part of the subcontinent. The capital of Magadha shifted from Rajagriha (present-day Rajgir) to Pataliputra (present-day Patna).
