Detailed Solution

Wajid Ali Shah was the Nawab of Awadh, who the East India Company dethroned in 1856. In 1856, Lord Dalhousie decided to acquire the state of Awadh under the guise of lawlessness, and as a result, it came under the control of the British East India Company. The fifth king of Awadh, Wajid Ali Shah, ruled from 1847 until 1856. Ayodhya served as Oudh/Awadh's first capital before Faizabad. When the Mughal Empire began to disintegrate( after the death of Emperor Aurangazeb), one of the regions where autocrats started to solidify their power was Awadh.
