Detailed Solution

Samrat Ashoka was the only king in the history of the world who gave up conquest after winning a war.
Samrat Ashoka was one of the greatest rulers in the Maurya Empire. He gave up the war after acknowledging how moved he was by the violence and the large number of people who were left injured or killed during the Kalinga War. The bloodshed horrified him, so he decided not to fight any more wars. Hence, this made him the only king in the history of the world who gave up the conquest after winning a war. He then encouraged the practice of nonviolence and peace by preaching about Buddhism.
