Raziyya was the only woman ruler of the Delhi Sultanate.
Raziyya is an important figure in the medieval history of the subcontinent as she was the only woman ruler of the Delhi Sultanate. She was the daughter of the second Sultan of Delhi, Iltutmish. Iltutmish had sons, but Raziyya was more capable than her brothers, who gave her the throne of Delhi in 1236.
