Puhar was the port of Cholas.
It was also known as Kaveripattinam and acted as an important port city for the Cholas in facilitating trade. The chief of Cholas did not collect regular taxes, but they demanded and received many gifts from common people to sustain the Empire. Solars had an important feature that they were very powerful in the Navy Forces. And because of their control over the region of the present-day Bay of Bengal, it was called Chola lake. Their administration was also famous for giving importance to local government and introducing a concept called local self-government.
