Dr Rajendra Prasad was the President of the Constituent Assembly, which was formed to draft India's constitution.
On December 9, 1946, the CA (Constituent Assembly)of India convened for the first time. Dr Sachchidanand Sinha was appointed as interim President of the Assembly. Dr Rajendra Prasad was chosen President of the Assembly, and H C Mukherjee was elected Vice-President. Approximately 207 members attended the inaugural gathering. Many such sessions were held by the Constituent Assembly until the draft constitution was accepted on November 26, 1949.
