Detailed Solution

Murshid Quli Khan was the ruler of Bengal in the 18th Century.
After the decline of the Mughal Empire, various regions like Awadh, Hyderabad, Bengal, etc., broke from Mughal control. These regions were under able administrators like Awadh, which Sadat Khan ruled. In Hyderabad, it was ruled by Nizam ul Mulk, and Murshid kuli Khan ruled Bengal. Before this, Murshid Khuli Khan was appointed as Naib, translated as Deputy Governor of the province. Like the rulers of Awadh and Hyderabad, he also tried to reduce the command of Jagirdar over his region. He increased his control over the revenue administration of the state of Bengal. He also tried to have great strictness in collecting revenue from all the zamindars of the region.
