Detailed Solution

Mir Jumla was the subedar of Bengal. Emperor Aurangzeb gave him the title of a subedar. He was Iranian and went by the name Mir Muhammad Said at birth. The Mughal emperor gave him other titles, including Muazzam Khan and Yar-i-Wafahdar, but Mir Jumla is the name by which he is best known. The northeastern border strategy, which Mir Jumla employed to overthrow the frontier kingdoms of Kamrup and Assam, was the most notable aspect of his administration in Bengal. Mir Jumla invaded Assam in 1662 and held the region until the Ghilajharighat Treaty was signed in 1663, earning praise for his military prowess and for being "a fine statesman." 16 The Mughals gained a significant cession of the Ahom and a sizeable war indemnity under the conditions of the agreement.
