Detailed Solution

Apartheid was a system of racial discrimination or segregation on the grounds of race practised in South Africa. It was first imposed on South Africa by white Europeans.
This system divided people based on their skin colour and labelled them as ‘inferiors’. Non-whites were deprived of voting rights and the right to live in white areas, and they had to get permission from the whites to work. Trains and buses, as well as public properties such as hospitals, schools, cinemas, swimming pools, and toilets, were segregated for blacks and whites. This was called ‘segregation’. The African National Congress (ANC) was the umbrella organisation that led the struggle against Apartheid.
