Detailed Solution

Soyarabai was the wife of Chokhamela, a Bhakti poet from 14th century Maharashtra. They belonged to a caste named "Mahar", which back then was considered untouchable. Through her poem, she tries to portray the plea of being untouchable. The Mahars were not touched because upper castes felt that they were unclean. But Soyrabai tried to make everybody understand that only the body is dirty; their souls are untainted. Everybody is born in the same manner from the womb. Every person is born pure. Then why should we distinguish people based on their caste or occupation? She argues that untouchability is nothing but a tool to restrict their access to education, work, spaces, and dignity.
