The Great Depression began in 1929. During this period, production, employment, and prices declined tremendously. The most affected industrial centre was the United States. Unemployment was at an all-time high. The banking system also collapsed. Banks had to cut domestic lending and call in bank loans. The agricultural crisis deepened the industrial crisis. Agricultural overproduction gave rise to a fall in prices. As farmers tried to create more income, they created more surplus, so the situation worsened. Consequently, the great depression affected all sectors of the economy. It also adversely affected society, politics, and international relations.
