Silesian weavers revolted in 1845. There was a revolt in 1845 against the contractors by the Silesian weavers as the contractors gave them raw material and asked them for finished textiles but drastically reduced their payments. The weavers were dissatisfied with this step and marched in pairs up to the mansion of their contractors on 4 June demanding higher wages. The group got angrier when the contractors did not agree with them and barged into the contractors’ houses, smashing the elegant window panes, porcelain, etc. The contractor had to flee with his family to a neighbouring village but the villagers refused to give shelter to the man as they knew about the revolt. He returned after 24 hours but with the army because of which 11 weavers were shot.
