Detailed Solution

Raikas were a group of people living in the desert of Rajasthan. The region where these people belong has very little rainfall, and it is very uncertain to witness rainfall due to how the harvest on the cultivated land keeps on fluctuating. Over the vast stretches of land, no crop can be grown. Therefore, to sustain their source of livelihood, they combined cultivation with pastoralism. During the monsoon season, the Raikas stay in their home villages where pastures are available. After the monsoon season, when the land gets dry, they return for more pasture and water, and by the onset of the monsoon, they settle back in their home village. There are two groups of Raikas—one herds the camel, and another herds goats and sheep.
