Shudras werediscriminated in the society of mahajanapadas. Shudras were considered untouchables because shudras were the category that served the rest three categories of varnas. Shudras and women were not allowed to read the Vedas according to the priest of that time. Shudras were excluded from Ashwamedha yagnas because Ashwamedha yagna was a holy ritual which was done by rajas through the priest. This discrimination was done to them because their birth in that category considered them shudras.
