Detailed Solution

Peasants were hit the hardest during the Great Depression in India.
In 1929, the Great Depression got underway. Wheat was exported from India to nations in Europe. Wheat prices in India decreased by nearly 50% as global prices for grain dropped due to the Great Depression. The worst victims were peasants and farmers. Even if crop prices dropped, the administration steadfastly resisted cutting taxes. The peasants were compelled as a result of borrowing money from moneylenders. In India, the debt levels of the peasants rose at this time. Because of the decline in exports of gunny bags, the price of raw jute fell by 60%. Bengali farmers grew raw jute, later processed in factories to make gunny bags.
