But other kinds of reading material, primarily meant for amusement, started to get to regular readers as well. Penny chapbooks were sold for one penny in England by small peddlers called chapmen, making them affordable for even the most disadvantaged. Since the printing revolution of the sixteenth century, these chapbooks have grown in popularity.
