Detailed Solution

Debates with religious scholars were important in forming Akbar's idea of governance.
Akbar's interactions with people of various faiths taught him that religious scholars who emphasised ritual and dogma were frequently bigots. Their teachings caused discord and division among his subjects. This eventually led to Akbar's concept of Sulh-i-kul, or 'universal peace.' He deduced that the concept of tolerance was crucial because it did not discriminate between people of different religions in his domain. Instead, it emphasised an ethical system based on honesty, justice, and peace. These were the universally applicable virtues. Finally, with Abul Fazl, Akbar developed a vision of governance based on the concept of Sulh-i-kul.
