Work can be calculated by multiplying the force and the object's movement. Whenever the first two requirements are met, work is said to be done:

●       The body is subject to a force.


●       By exerting force either in the force's direction or in the opposite direction, the body is moved.


An orbit around the earth's surface is circular for a satellite. Since the satellite is moving in a tangential direction and the gravitational force is directed toward the centre of the earth, the angle between the two is 90 degrees. So no work is completed.
W=F s cos θ
⇒W = F s cos 90°
⇒W = F×s× 0  (as s 90°=0 )
⇒W = 0
