Banabhatta wrote the biography of king Harshvardhana and was known as Harshcharita.
Banabhatta was a court poet in the court of Harshavardhana and wrote his biography in Sanskrit. Harshvardhana ruled about 1400 years ago. This biography describes his time as a kid and ends with Harshvardhana becoming a king. This biography covers his conquests and how he came to rule Thaneshwar after his father and older brother's deaths. He took control over Kannauj, ruled by his brother-in-law when he died at the hands of a Bengali ruler. He led an expedition against the ruler of Bengal when he gained control over Kannauj.
