10 students of class X took part in Mathematics quiz. If the numbers of girls is 4 more than the number of boys, find the number of boys and girls who took part in the quiz.

Total 10 students took part in the quiz, 

number of girls + number of boys =10;

Let Number of girls = x,

Number of boys = y

x+y=10 ......(1) 

Given, Number of girls is 4 more than boys, 

i.e., Number of girls = 4+ Number of boys

x=y+4 ......(2)

by substituting equation (2) in equation (1), we get,

y+y+4=10;

2y+4=10

2y=6 

y=3.

Substitue y=3 in equation (2) we get

x=3+4,

x=7

Therefore, Number of girls x = 7;

Number of boys y = 3
