The probability of an event E is given as;
P(E)= Number of outcomes favourable to E Number of all possible outcomes of the experiment  
Number of defective pens = 12
Number of good pens = 132
Therefore, total number of pens =12+132=144  
P getting a good pen = Number of good pens Total number of pens = 132 144 = 11 12 0.917  
Therefore, the probability that the pen taken out is a good one is 0.917.
