16 bulbs of 40 W are used for 6 hours a day along with one 100 W bulb for 2 hours. The energy consumed by all the bulbs in 1 day is 4.04 units.
Given:
Power of 16 bulbs of 40 W each, = 16×40 W
     = 640 W
Time taken by 16 bulbs, t= 6 Energy consumed by 40 W bulbs,
E= P×t
 =640 × 6
 =3840 Wh
Energy consumed by P=100 W bulb for t=2 hours
E= P×t
 =100×2
 =200 Wh
Total energy consumed in a day by all bulbs =(3840+200) Wh
  =4040 Wh  
  =4.04 kWh  =4.04 units [as 1 unit = 1 kWh]
