The rise of several autonomous kingdoms transformed the boundary lines of the Mughal Empire during the first half of the eighteenth century. From 1707, when Aurangzeb died, to the third battle of Panipat in 1761. The Mughal Empire steadily disintegrated into several autonomous regional states during the 18th century. It was split into three overlapping categories:  Awadh, Bengal, and Hyderabad were former Mughal provinces.
