Detailed Solution

Multiple cropping is the most common way of increasing production on a given land. In villages, no land is left fallow. Jowar and bajra are grown by farmers during the rainy season (Kharif). Cattle are fed on these plants. The growing of potatoes then takes place between October and December. Wheat is sown in the fields throughout the winter (rabi). From the grain they grow, farmers keep just enough for their family's needs and sell the extra at the village's main market.
Additionally, sugarcane is grown on a portion of the land and picked once a year. Jaggery or raw sugarcane is sold to dealers in neighbouring communities. Multiple cropping refers to growing more than one crop on a given land.
